New referral route for Neurodevelopmental (ND) assessments

From 03 August 2026, Autism and ADHD diagnostic assessments for children and young people (aged 2- 17) will move to a single integrated service called SHINE (Specialist Hub for Integrated Neurodevelopmental Evaluation)

SHINE brings together Community Paediatrics and CAMHS diagnostic assessment services, supported by a new Single Point of Access (SPA) and digital referral processes.

Referrals can be made by GPs, health professionals (including Health Visitors and Speech and Language Therapists), Community and Hospital Paediatricians, CAMHS Clinicians, Nursery and School SENCos, and Social Workers.

Please note: Parental consent is required before a referral can be submitted.

All referrals submitted via the 'old' pathway (before 2 August) will be moved to the new pathway, with any time already spent on waiting lists being honoured.
